Armada Music is the biggest independent dance music record label in the world.

In 2025, they set out to develop the perfect office space for the London team. Safe Pair of Hands Technology was engaged to provide a first class, audio, technology, and employee interaction solution for the 5 storey space in Shoreditch.  

As the building was being stripped back to its' shell, we were able to design, install, programme, and commission a state of the art facility.  

The key features of the building are :-

A nightclub space with 24,000 watts of L-Acoustics audio & a Pioneer DJ booth, controlled seamlessly by a Crestron control system which can recall complicated presets at the touch of a button.  

A top floor listening station with impressive Bowers & Wilkins hi-fi and Crestron control, allowing artists to showcase their music to the A&R team in any format, again with a simple touch screen interface doing the heavy lifting.  

Crestron Teams Rooms with Airmedia provide seamless integration with employee's laptops, and enable remote meetings with ease.  

Further large Sony Bravia Pro displays can either be used to presentations or to display artwork.

The client is delighted with the outcome, and they have been using the spaces created to showcase their new building to the industry, clients, artists, and investors.

Their team approached us to ask if we could offer a technical solution to replace their existing broadcast setup, and following a site visit and further discussions we delivered a number of technical upgrades.

AoIP Studio

We supplied and installed brand new Audio-over-IP (AoIP) hardware and software for their primary studio, including:

• Axia IQx AES67 console (with expansion frame)
• Telos Alliance xNodes
• An AoIP compatible network switch
• AoIP sound cards for PCs.

We also provided wiring, configuration and Voceware VClock to provide on air and mic live indication.

RCS Zetta & GSelector

With a new studio came the requirement for updated playout and scheduling software. We recommended RCS Zetta and GSelector which is used in a wide range of stations of different sizes across the country.

Broadcasting during COVID-19

Radio stations have had to adapt quickly to allow many if not all of their shows to be run remotely. As part of our installation, we ensured RCS Zetta2GO was set up and running securely. This allows presenters to record links and run their show from the safety of their home anywhere in the world.

Broadcast Furniture

It's important that a studio is practical and accessible for all users. As such, we went to our suppliers and worked out a custom broadcast furniture solution. The resulting product allowed for free circulation around the room and is electronically height adjustable by the presenter. We also ensured there was space for the station DJ mixer and CDJs.

Studio Switching & Transmission

The station broadcasts online via URN1350.net using multiple studios including traditional analogue spaces. As part of our work, we supplied and set up a brand new main equipment rack to set the base for current and future improvements.

This included a new network switch, transmission switching (encompassing all studios), stream encoding and processing, as well as NAS and playout during automated hours. We have also designed this system to allow extra AoIP studios to be added over time as required.

As part of our work, we migrated Powwow on to Microsoft Teams and Office 365 - this has proven invaluable in allowing their team to work together, especially when working from home. Documents can be shared to those who need them, with team discussions facilitated through the Microsoft Teams desktop and mobile applications.

Safe Pair of Hands were due to migrate our server onto Microsoft 365, due to COVID-19 we needed to bring this migration forward to enable us to work remotely they sprung into action and made it happen. For this project we wanted to provide a high quality, extremely customisable wall finish. This system makes use of tracks for mounting, covering all walls and the ceiling. As this is constructed in panels, this allowed Fran to choose multiple colours to personalise her new space. In order to further minimise noise infiltration from outside her home, we also supplied and installed secondary sliding glazing.

For recording equipment, we combined a Wheatstone M-1 processor with the Neumann TLM103 - a brilliant combination for voicetracking. This was connected into her existing PC using a Focusrite 2i2 USB audio interface.
